Our FIFA 101 section is dedicated to those that want to learn or revisit the basics. Because playing on an elite level is a process, you must first learn the basics before you attempt to master more difficult strategies. Once you learn the basics, only then are you ready to compete.

 In order to allow for off the ball defending you have two options, either full on manual switching or a setting titled “Air balls” where the computer only switches you when the ball is in the air.
Either of these settings is much more effective and can be used for off the ball defending strategies.

Shot power is the second key and can vary depending on the type of penalty and where you are trying to strike the ball. As long as you do not put the maximum power on the ball, so 3 ½ bars or less, you will keep the ball within the posts.
For a traditional penalty, we have found that 3 to 3 ½ bars of power is ideal.

The first entity that you must do is in order to activate the skills is hold the LT (L2 for PS3).
Without holding the LT the motions done with the left or right stick are useless. The player will push the ball out in the direction of your stick movement and he will not conduct a skill.
